KEEP YOU INFORMED
In the 9 years since Mike was elected, he has worked hard to keep locals informed on what the Local Board is doing. Mike continues to advocate for more transparency and community engagement by the Local Board and council organisations. This term, he voted in support of making our board workshops open to the public. This provides the community the opportunity to see and hear first-hand the advice the Local Board receives from council staff and the information they are provided to help make decisions.

Mike regularly attends meetings in the Botany subdivison
By Mike Turinsky
I believe there is power in turning up. Therefore, I attend a lot of meetings of community groups in the Botany subdivision. For example, I regularly attend meetings for the Ōtara Lake and Waterways Trust, Business East Tamaki (Business Association) Huntington Park Residents, Marist Eastern Rugby Club, Korean Positive Ageing Trust, schools, residents associations, and more.
Why do I attend a lot of Botany meetings? I go because that is where I can hear from people in our area. I can listen to their point of view and ask follow-up questions. It also allows me to answer questions and hear their concerns.
If you want me to visit your next meeting in the Botany subdivision, please invite me. If I can, I will be there.
